Spirit/Decorations

“This week at Shadow Ridge is our Haunt the Halls Halloween Spirit Week. To promote our spirit week not only does our amazing Historian post our graphics of our spirit days on our Instagram but we also make three separate giant wrapped posters with the name and when each day will be, how to participate, and our lunch time activity for that day that we hang up in our quad for all of our students to see.”

“Our school does a sing off and a spirit stick. The louder a class is, the more spirit they show, so they get the spirit stick until the next assembly ”

Jessica D.R. (North Valleys High School)

“North Valleys HS is dedicated to being organized when it comes to hall decorating! Our Student Body President gathers the class and discusses with the Class Presidents about their theme and what they need to execute (whether it be a stairwell, sets of lockers, etc) From there the Class Presidents meet with their respective classes to delegate roles. Each person typically receive 1-2 posters, seniors usually receive more. Presidents decide if they’d like people to be paired up or if they’ll be working individually. We give roughly 6 weeks for a single spirit week–3 for tracing, 3 for painting–and outline those deadlines CLEARLY. For example, after 3 weeks, there is no tracing allowed at school. We trace using school-purchased projectors and we use house paint for our painting. We paint in front of our student store, because that’s where we store our supplies and it’s a wide open area. Checks in and updates on posters are given every Monday during our class meetings and we set the expectation firmly to communicate a week before if you’re unable to get something done. To ensure accountability, we make decorations on a 4 point scale as part of our grade. After the alotted time, we have a designated hall decorating DAY the Friday before the spirit week from 3-8 where we discuss what needs to be completed and then actually execute it. We’re lucky to have an incredible SBP who has frontlined this organization. Please reach out via email (nevstuco.westrep@gmail.com) if you have any questions, comments, or concerns! ”
