“At West CTA, we run an annual ‘Tree of Hope!’ During the winter season, our Student Council puts up a Christmas Tree with ornaments corresponding to a client at the SAFE House, a domestic violence shelter. Students in and outside of our council have the opportunity to retrieve gifts and/or presents to be donated to a client of their choosing, with one client per ornament! Once all of the gifts are dropped off to our Student Council room, our council wraps the presents that have not been wrapped and deliver them to the SAFE House to share holiday love to our community!”

“For our CFC’s we have been using ‘Miracle Minutes.’ We typically do them based off the month. For example we just did one on Friday 9/18 and raised over $300 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as this is an awareness for September. We create envelopes for every classroom and office to make the donations easier for everyone as well. An announcement is made after the first 5 minutes of the last period and we ask the teachers to pass the envelopes around the room. We then send council out during the period to collect the envelopes and drop off with the banker. We advertise the week before to let everyone know what we are doing and why.”

“Peggy’s Attic is a foster child support home. They give needed clothing, toys, etc. to kids that have been put into foster care. They’re always accepting donations of lightly used children’s items (0-18 years) to have on hand in case a child has to leave without their possessions. It’s very easy to have a donation drive from families when they visit campus, and then transport the items to Peggy’s Attic. You need to call them ahead of time and set up a drop off appointment, but they’re always greatful for what you can bring. “
