Appreciation

“At our school, a way we show appreciation to our staff is through a Teacher Scholarship. Essentially, Leadership donates money to support a staff member’s cause or trip to uplift both them and our school’s community as a whole. Recently, Reno High Leadership funded our Librarian trip to attend the AASL (American Association of School Librarians) National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Through these Teacher Scholarships, our council helps support the staff members who work tirelessly to support our students!”

“Super Secret StuCo is a teacher appreciation event where each Student Council member is secretly paired with a staff member or teacher. Four times during the year, students give small gifts to their assigned teacher without revealing who they are. At the end of the year, there’s a mixer where everyone is revealed.”

“We do a monthly event for the entire Senior Class! You can customize this to your funds and capabilities, but this can be anything from giving/selling hot cocoa at lunch, senior stickers, popcorn, etc. Just a fun way to appreciate seniors!”

Tali A. (North Valleys High School)

“We pass around a class pet stuffed animal to make everyone in our class feel supported and appreciated! Our SBP has it at the beginning of the year and passes it onto one member of our class and after 2 weeks that same person will pass it to someone else. There’s also a notebook that travels with the stuffed animal that we write letters to the person we’re passing it to in for a personal touch! This continues for the entire year and makes everyone feel included and connected!”

“Sports Liaison – Sports Liaison is an activity that our student council does to give recognition to activities, sports, and clubs on our campus. Groups of 2-3 council members are assigned to a sport or activity where they must put in 3 schoolwide announcements and create 3 posters to give recognition to these activities. This is a great opportunity to ensure that all activities on your campus are recognized – not just your top sports!”
